The Boston Celtics seem poised to face challenges in the 2025/26 season, with expectations that the team could take a step back.
Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury will sideline him for a significant stretch, while Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porziņģis were both traded away in cost-cutting moves.
Despite these setbacks, Jaylen Brown voiced optimism about the team’s outlook during an interview this week on V-103 FM in Atlanta, as relayed by Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe.
“I know Boston, it looks gloomy right now, obviously with JT being out and us kind of ending the year, but it’s a lot to look forward to,” Brown said, acknowledging the concerns surrounding the roster.
“I want the city to feel excited about that. This is not the end, so I’m looking forward to what’s next.”
Brown, who signed a five-year, $304 million super-max extension with Boston last summer, emphasized that the team is not finished competing despite the offseason changes.
Since the interview took place in Atlanta, Brown’s hometown, he was inevitably asked about the possibility of one day playing for the Hawks.
With four years still left on his deal in Boston, such a move is highly unlikely in the near future.
Still, Brown didn’t completely shut down the idea when pressed by host Darian Morgan, who said he would love to see Brown in a Hawks jersey.
The All-Star guard smiled and replied, “I feel you. I think my grandma would too.”
