Authorities announced that former South Carolina Gamecocks basketball standout Sindarius Thornwell has been arrested, per wistv.com.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the 30-year-old was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with second-degree domestic violence and unlawful conduct toward a child. The charges stem from an August 12 incident on Glenn Village Road.

According to the victim, Thornwell assaulted her while she was holding a child following an argument. She also told deputies that he threw a cup of water at them and hit her in the back of the head. Ex-NBA guard denied striking her but admitted to throwing the water.

Investigators later spoke with the victim again and said additional evidence supported her account. Based on that, warrants were issued and Thornwell was arrested Tuesday.

Thornwell is well-known for leading the University of South Carolina to the Final Four in 2017 and being named SEC Player of the Year. He was later drafted into the NBA and also played overseas.

After his arrest, he was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Records show he was granted a $25,000 bond on the domestic violence charge at a hearing the same day.
