Nikos HatzivrettasA couple of days ago the Greek Basketball Federation passed a new rule regarding the foreigners allowed for each team. From the next season on the rule is 3+3 instead of 4+2 Europeans and non-Europeans respectivelly.

This unties the hands of Panathinaikos who could sign a non-European player, possibly American which would mean that Nikos Hatzivrettas would probably be out of the team and of an overloaded backcourt.

Reports from Italy and Greece are having Hatzivrettas targeted by Lottomatica Roma to cover Sani Becirovic' departure even though the player's priority remains Panathinaikos. Hatzivrettas would find much more playing time in Roma and that could affect his final decision.

Meanwhile Aris is also interested in Hatzivrettas as the club plans to reinforce the squad mainly with Greek players for the upcoming Euroleague qualification games.

It is to be noted that the 3+3 rule does not mean that a team cannot have 6 Europeans. It means that any team can have up to six non-Greeks, only three of which can be non-European.
