Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. named former teammate Nikola Jokic as his choice for the greatest basketball player of all time.
When asked who he believes is the GOAT, Porter replied, via HoopsHype, “I’m going Nikola Jokic. The reason I say that is because he could have won MVP five years in a row. Can you name another player that could’ve won MVP five years?”
Jokic’s resume makes the case compelling. The Serbian center has collected three MVP awards (2021, 2022, 2024), a Finals MVP, and an NBA championship with Denver in 2023.
The 30-year-old has been the engine of the Nuggets since entering the league in 2015. He is an eight-time All-NBA selection, including five First Team honors, and a seven-time All-Star.
His statistical impact also strengthens Porter’s argument. Jokic is averaging 21.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 7.2 assists across his career while shooting 56 percent from the field. In the 2024–25 season, he posted 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per game, once again proving his dominance as a scorer and playmaker.
In the postseason, Jokic has carried Denver with historic production. He owns career playoff averages of 27.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 7.6 assists while leading the Nuggets to the franchise’s first championship in 2023.
While the GOAT debate often centers on Michael Jordan and LeBron James, Porter’s view highlights the growing recognition of Jokic’s legacy. His combination of size, vision, scoring, and durability has set him apart in today’s NBA.
