Lithuania’s unbeaten run at FIBA EuroBasket 2025 came to an end as Germany put together a commanding 107-88 victory in Tampere.
With the win, Germany not only handed Lithuania their first defeat of the tournament but also became the first team to officially secure a place in the Round of 16, moving to 3-0 in Group B.
Both sides started the game on fire from beyond the arc, hitting a combined 9-of-12 from deep in the early minutes.
But it was Germany who made the first decisive push, closing the first quarter on a 16-2 run capped by a tough three-point play from Dennis Schroder, giving them a 32-20 edge after ten minutes.
Lithuania battled back in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to just four points behind Rokas Jokubaitis, who finished with 20.
However, Franz Wagner immediately responded with six straight points in an 8-2 burst, pushing Germany back in control. From that point on, Lithuania never seriously threatened again.
Daniel Theis was unstoppable and earned TCL Player of the Game honors, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, 3-for-3 from deep, and 2-for-2 at the free-throw line for 23 points, while also adding five rebounds in 21 minutes.
Schroder and Wagner combined for 50 points to showcase Germany’s offensive depth.
Statistically, Germany’s precision and discipline stood out. They shot 53 percent overall and committed only six turnovers, while forcing Lithuania into 18.
That margin translated into a 25-7 advantage in points off turnovers. Germany also tied the EuroBasket record for made threes in a game (19, since 1995).
Germany now heads to Riga for the Round of 16 with their unbeaten record intact and will next face Great Britain to close group play.
Lithuania turns their focus to Finland in what could prove a decisive matchup for second place in Group B.
