Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving has revealed a new long-term goal that goes far beyond basketball.
During an Instagram Live session, Irving told fans he is “building towards becoming one of the biggest farmers ever,” outlining his vision of supplying food and creating wellness communities.
“I wanna be able to supply food and groceries to the world in the best way I can and create small holistic wellness villages where people can retire,” Irving said.
The announcement comes months after Irving re-signed with Dallas on a three-year, $118 million contract following an ACL tear in March that ended his 2024–25 season. Despite the setback, the nine-time All-Star has continued to share insights into his interests outside the court.
Irving’s commitment to farming echoes his long-standing advocacy for healthier lifestyles and holistic practices. He has previously spoken about wellness, nutrition, and community development, but this is his clearest statement yet about a future beyond the NBA.
On the court, the veteran guard has built a decorated résumé, including an NBA championship with Cleveland in 2016 and nine All-Star appearances. He averaged 24.7 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds last season before the injury.
Now at 33 years old, Irving has earned more than $311 million in career salary and remains under contract with Dallas through 2028. His latest comments suggest he plans to leverage that financial success into ventures focused on agriculture and community building.
Irving described his plan as both ambitious and personal, hinting at a desire to impact global food access while also creating environments centered on wellness.
