Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher is setting clear goals for his development as he prepares to represent France at EuroBasket 2025. Speaking with Athletiko.gr, the former No. 1 overall pick said improving his comfort with the ball is a priority.

“I want to get more comfortable with the ball. That’s another area I want to improve my game in,” Risacher said. “Being able to find my spots on the floor and be effective with the ball in my hands is something I want to do. I want to be able to create for myself and score.”

The 20-year-old had a strong rookie season with the Hawks, averaging 12.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three across 75 games. His ability to stretch the floor and guard multiple positions quickly made him a key part of Atlanta’s lineup.

Now, with the French national team, Risacher is focusing on adding shot creation to his skill set. “That’s going to be the next level for me, being able to get more comfortable with the ball in my hands,” he said.

Reflecting on his first NBA campaign, Risacher emphasized the value of experience. “I learned a lot last season. It was my first season in the NBA and I had the opportunity to guard the best players in the world and that helped me find my role. It was important for my development. I feel that I have gained experience and I am ready to encounter more difficulties.”

France will compete in Group D at EuroBasket 2025, facing Slovenia, Poland, Belgium, Israel, and Iceland. With stars like Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Nikola Jokic also in the field, the tournament is shaping up as one of the deepest in recent memory.

For Les Bleus, Risacher’s growth could play a crucial role in their push to capture a EuroBasket title for the first time since 2013. The team reached the final in 2022 but fell to Spain and will rely on a mix of veterans and rising talent to contend in Riga this September.
