According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Golden State Warriors remain interested in the possibility of acquiring LeBron James to pair him with Stephen Curry.

Fischer reports that team officials have contacted the Los Angeles Lakers several times over the past year and a half in hopes of exploring trade scenarios, but no agreement has been reached.

The idea gained momentum after James and Curry shared the court during the Paris Olympics last summer, where they helped lead Team USA to a gold medal under Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

Golden State envisions recreating that chemistry at the NBA level.

However, despite ongoing speculation about James’ future – especially after he exercised his $52.6 million player option in June – Fischer notes that completing such a deal would be extremely difficult.

Matching James’ contract through a trade would likely require the Warriors to dismantle key parts of their roster, a risk that complicates any negotiations.

The same challenge would apply if the team ever attempted to pursue another superstar, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, should he eventually request a trade from Milwaukee.
