Having navigated the qualifying stage for the Quarter-Finals at FIBA AfroBasket 2025, Cape Verde secured a commanding 87-54 victory over Tunisia, earning a spot among the Top 8 national teams on the African continent.

Edy Tavares contributed 6 points and 7 rebounds, while Keven Gomes, Joel Almeida, and Anderson Correia each put up 14 points, playing pivotal roles in the win. With this success, Cape Verde is now set to face Angola in the next round.

Later tonight, another high-stakes clash will take place as Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo battle for a Quarter-Finals berth, with the winner set to challenge Egypt.

Earlier in the tournament, Senegal caused a major upset by defeating South Sudan 78-65, knocking last year’s Olympic participants out of contention. Valencia’s Brancou Badio stole the show in that game, delivering a spectacular 31-point performance to lead his team to victory.

Meanwhile, Alpha Diallo posted an impressive double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds for Guinea in their matchup yesterday. Despite his outstanding individual effort, Guinea fell short against Mali, who edged them out with a 70-67 win, ending Guinea’s run in the tournament.
