For the first time in four years, the Philadelphia 76ers will not be featured on the NBA’s annual Christmas Day schedule. In addition, the team will not have a nationally televised game during opening week or on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, this lack of marquee exposure is hardly surprising.

Last season was a major setback for the Sixers, who struggled with injuries and managed to win only 24 games, effectively putting them in a rebuilding or “tanking” mode.

Despite this, the team had a stroke of luck in the draft lottery, using their high pick to select promising rookie VJ Edgecombe.

Still, the team’s success hinges on the health of its star trio: Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey. Concerns intensified recently when George underwent knee surgery, prompting caution ahead of the new season.

He is scheduled for a medical reevaluation before training camp, leaving fans and management anxious about the team’s readiness and durability.
