Boston’s front office appears poised to fill a newly opened two-way slot with second-round pick Amari Williams, Mass Live reporter Souichi Terada reported.

Terada writes that Miles Norris’ recent release clears space on the Celtics’ two-way roster and makes a Williams signing likely.

Norris had occupied one of Boston’s two-way slots alongside Max Shulga and RJ Luis Jr., leaving the team with limited flexibility.
With Norris waived, Terada notes the Celtics now have room to add Williams without altering the deals for Shulga or Luis.

Williams was chosen 46th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by Orlando and traded to Boston on draft night. The 7-foot Kentucky product averaged 10.9 points and 8.5 rebounds in 2024–25 after transferring from Drexel.

Boston gave Williams some Summer League run, where he averaged 6.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and showed rim activity in limited minutes.

A two-way deal would slot Williams into a Celtics system. That arrangement would give Boston depth at center while keeping roster flexibility under the 15-player limit.

Two-way contracts are a common path for second-rounders to earn regular-season minutes, and Williams fits the profile of a big who can develop in both settings.
