Veteran scorer Lou Williams sees echoes of Kobe Bryant in Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

On Gil’s Arena, Williams asserted, “He’s more Kobe. I know everyone is gonna fight that… [Shai] has that type of temperament game.”

Williams pointed to Gilgeous-Alexander’s relentless ability to create his own shot and dictate tempo.

“He’s gonna get to his spot and do what he wants to do,” Williams said of SGA’s killer instinct.

Williams, a three-time Sixth Man of the Year, played alongside Bryant in Los Angeles and appreciates similar traits.

Gilgeous-Alexander led the league in scoring in 2024–25, averaging 32.7 points per game on 51.9% shooting.

He captured consecutive Player of the Month honors in November and December, reflecting peak performance.

During the 2025 playoffs, Gilgeous-Alexander recorded multiple 35-plus point outings en route to the NBA Finals.

He became the first player in Thunder history with five consecutive 30-point playoff games.

Bryant was renowned for his work ethic and mental toughness—qualities Gilgeous-Alexander displayed in clutch moments.
