The Miami Heat have had a relatively quiet offseason by league standards, opting not to make major moves or pursue blockbuster trades. Instead, their approach has focused on incremental improvements and maintaining roster continuity.
The team added a few new faces – Norman Powell, Kasparas Jakucionis, and Simone Fontecchio – but overall, they’ll head into the 2025–26 season with a roster that looks very similar to the one they fielded last year.
Given the lack of major personnel changes, Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel argues that the Heat’s best chance at taking a meaningful step forward lies in internal development.
Rather than banking on external reinforcements, Miami will need improved production from players already on the roster.
Winderman highlights a few key individuals who could elevate the team’s performance by building on their previous contributions.
Andrew Wiggins, acquired during the last season, could take on a larger role after adjusting to Miami’s system. Jaime Jaquez Jr., coming off a sophomore campaign, has the potential to make a solid leap.
Terry Rozier, who joined during the 2023–24 midseason, could provide even greater offensive consistency in the 2025–26 season with more time in the system.
And Nikola Jovic, a promising young forward, may be ready to carve out a more impactful role after showing flashes of potential.
If even a couple of these players can significantly raise their level of play, it could help offset Miami’s relatively low-key offseason and keep the team competitive in a tough Eastern Conference.
