Veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier has committed his future to Olympiacos, inking a three-year contract extension with the Greek basketball powerhouse, the team confirmed on its official X account.

The 32-year-old French international initially joined Olympiacos in September of last year after a long stint in the NBA. His original deal was set to expire in the summer of 2026, but this new agreement will keep him in Piraeus until the end of the 2027–2028 season.

Fournier made an immediate impact in his first season back in European basketball. He played a pivotal role for Olympiacos, earning second-team All-EuroLeague honors by putting up impressive averages of 16.1 points and 2.8 assists per game.

His leadership and scoring ability helped guide the club to a Final Four appearance. In domestic competition, Fournier continued to contribute effectively, averaging 9.4 points and 2.3 assists per game, playing a key part in Olympiacos’ championship win over archrival Panathinaikos in the Greek League finals.

Before returning to Europe, Fournier enjoyed a 12-year career in the NBA. He began his professional journey in France before being selected 20th overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2012 NBA Draft.

After two seasons in Denver, he was traded to the Orlando Magic in 2014. Orlando proved to be the most fruitful stop of his NBA career, as he became a mainstay in the starting lineup and peaked statistically in the 2019–2020 season, when he averaged a career-best 18.5 points per game.

Fournier was traded to the Boston Celtics at the 2021 trade deadline, and later that year he joined the New York Knicks via a sign-and-trade.

However, his time in New York was turbulent. After an initially promising stint, he saw his role dramatically reduced under coach Tom Thibodeau and spent extended time out of the rotation. His NBA chapter concluded with a move to the Detroit Pistons at the 2024 trade deadline.

Over the course of his NBA tenure, Fournier played in 704 regular-season games, starting in 504 of them. He posted career averages of 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while logging nearly 28 minutes per contest.

In addition to his club career, Fournier has been a cornerstone of the French national team for over a decade. He helped France earn silver medals at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and he was also instrumental in the team’s silver-medal run at EuroBasket 2022.

Now firmly entrenched in Olympiacos’ plans for the future, Fournier is expected to remain a central figure as the club continues to chase both domestic and continental success.
