The Boston Celtics have frequently come up in discussions as a potential landing spot for Ben Simmons, yet Matt Vautour of MassLive suggests that the team should consider other options when it comes to adding free-agent talent.
While the player continues to demonstrate valuable skills and undeniable strengths on the court, Vautour cautions that relying on him might be risky due to his ongoing health concerns.
He points out that the Celtics would likely face the same challenges that plagued Simmons’ previous stints with Philadelphia and Brooklyn – namely, inconsistency and injuries – which could result in unmet expectations and frustration.
Ultimately, Vautour advises Boston to pursue alternative avenues rather than betting on the former Sixers star as a dependable contributor.
Simmons has played 7 seasons for the 76ers, Nets, and Clippers. He has averaged 13.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists in 383 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 3 All-Star games, and has won the Rookie of the Year award.
