The Golden State Warriors have exercised their $1.96 million team option on Quinten Post, signaling strong confidence in his future as a potential starting center in the NBA.
According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, a Warriors front office executive praised Post’s development, saying, “We think he can be a starting five in the league. The shot, the passing and the interior scoring are all there. He also fit right in and wasn’t afraid to go at it with our long-term guys.”
Post, 25, appeared in 42 games for Golden State during the 2024–25 season, starting 14 of them. He averaged 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 40.8% from three-point range and 44.9% overall.
Drafted 52nd overall in 2024, Post became the first Dutch player drafted into the NBA since 2009. After a brief stint with the Portland Trail Blazers following a four-team trade, he returned to Golden State and worked his way from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal by February.
His role diminished during the postseason, where he averaged 12.2 minutes across 12 playoff games, contributing 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest. Despite his shooting dipping to 31.3% from beyond the arc in the playoffs, his confidence and willingness to battle earned praise from the coaching staff.
The exercised option keeps Post under contract through the 2025–26 campaign as part of a two-year, $2.4 million deal. The front office sees the 7-footer’s shooting, passing, and interior scoring as key components for the team moving forward.
Smith also noted the team acknowledges room for growth defensively but believes those improvements will come with experience.
