The Washington Wizards have waived guard Blake Wesley after agreeing to a buyout, league sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype on Saturday.

Wesley, the 25th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, was traded to Washington earlier this month from the San Antonio Spurs in the deal involving Kelly Olynyk. Just 10 days after the trade, the two sides parted ways to allow Wesley to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere.

According to Scotto, the 22-year-old is now an unrestricted free agent and is expected to draw interest thanks to his defensive versatility and improved shooting.

Wesley appeared in 156 games over three seasons with the Spurs, averaging 4.3 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per game. He started four contests during his time in San Antonio but saw his role diminish as the roster evolved around younger players and veterans.

In his final season with San Antonio, Wesley played 11.8 minutes per game, contributing 3.7 points while shooting nearly 44% from the field.

The move frees up a roster spot for the Wizards while giving Wesley the chance to find a better fit elsewhere before training camps begin.
