Donte DiVincenzo, a guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has officially taken a significant step toward representing Italy on the international basketball stage.
After expressing his interest earlier this year, specifically in April, in playing for the Italian national team at EuroBasket 2025, DiVincenzo has now been granted Italian citizenship.
This milestone paves the way for his eligibility to compete in the upcoming European championship, according to a report from BasketNews.com.
The 28-year-old NBA player is expected to complete the naturalization process with a formal swearing-in ceremony in Chicago.
This follows the recent decision by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, who gave his official approval on Thursday to the proposal that grants DiVincenzo citizenship.
