Next season, the Milwaukee Bucks plan to unleash a new version of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Already a two-time MVP and one of the league’s most dominant forces, Antetokounmpo is expected to assume increased playmaking duties under head coach Doc Rivers.

“He truly is becoming a real point guard,” said Bucks GM Jon Horst. “His decision-making is elite. His turnover game is reducing.”

This evolution has been in the works for years.

But with Rivers on board and the roster shifting around Giannis – including the addition of floor-spacing big man Myles Turner – the Bucks are doubling down on a vision where Antetokounmpo initiates offense more frequently.

Doc Rivers has spoken publicly about expanding Greek basketball star’s role in orchestrating plays. Horst echoed that belief, pointing to Giannis’ improved patience and floor vision.

“He’s reading defenses differently. He’s recognizing when to attack, when to kick, and when to reset. That’s what point guards do,” Horst said.
