Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine is optimistic about how veteran point guard Dennis Schröder will fit into the team’s plans next season.

LaVine, speaking with The Sacramento Bee’s Chris Biderman, highlighted the value of experience and composure that Schröder brings to a roster aiming for deeper postseason relevance.

The player acknowledged the individual scoring abilities that both he and forward DeMar DeRozan bring to the table, but emphasized that true success will come from a more complete and balanced team dynamic.

“Me and DeMar (DeRozan) have a track record for being able to put the ball in the basket and do the things on the court that we need to,” LaVine said.

However, he was quick to point out that talent alone isn’t enough to achieve sustained success.

“But I think we need an overall team concept to where everything’s working the right way,” he continued. “Sometimes roster construction helps out a lot with that.”

That’s where Schröder enters the picture. The German-born floor general has spent over a decade in the NBA and brings a wealth of experience from both starting and bench roles, as well as international play.

For LaVine, his presence fills a crucial need.

“So having Dennis, a veteran point guard who’s been in a lot of places, can come off the bench, has started. He can calm things down. He’s been in pressure situations. I think it’s going to help a lot.”

Schröder’s addition adds depth and leadership to a Kings backcourt that has at times struggled with consistency.

While the core of LaVine and DeRozan provides scoring punch, the team’s hopes rest on building chemistry and functioning as a cohesive unit – something LaVine believes Schröder will help them achieve.
