The Detroit Pistons are reportedly exploring a trade for Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.
Fischer tweeted on Monday that Detroit has emerged as a potential destination for Monk, with league sources suggesting the framework could involve a sign-and-trade that sends veteran guard Dennis Schroder to the Kings.
Monk, 27, averaged a career-high 17.2 points per game in the 2024-25 season. He has become a consistent contributor for Sacramento, providing scoring and secondary playmaking off the bench.
The Kings, who finished ninth in the Western Conference and were eliminated in the play-in tournament, may look to reshuffle their backcourt depth. Monk is entering the second year of a four-year, $78 million deal signed in July 2024.
Detroit, meanwhile, is coming off a 44-38 season and a first-round playoff exit against the New York Knicks. The Pistons are aiming to add more perimeter firepower to complement Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson.
Schroder, 31, split time last season between the Nets, Warriors, and Pistons, averaging 13.1 points and 5.4 assists. League capologists project his next contract at two years, $28 million — a number Sacramento could absorb in a sign-and-trade format.
Detroit has also been linked to Miami Heat shooter Duncan Robinson, which underscores their interest in acquiring scoring threats in the $12–17 million annual salary range.
