Panathinaikos has made the biggest splash of the EuroLeague offseason so far, signing star point guard TJ Shorts to a two-year deal.
The 27-year-old American comes off a sensational debut EuroLeague campaign with Paris Basketball that earned him All-EuroLeague First Team honors.
Shorts took the competition by storm in 2024-25, averaging 19.0 points, 7.3 assists and 22.8 PIR while leading Paris to a surprise playoff appearance. His electric play earned him November MVP honors and established him as one of Europe’s most dynamic guards.
The signing represents a major coup for Panathinaikos as they look to build on last season’s fourth-place finish. Shorts’ elite scoring and playmaking should immediately elevate a team that ranked near the top offensively but sought backcourt reinforcements.
Shorts’ departure leaves a massive void for Paris, who exceeded all expectations in their EuroLeague debut season. His heroics included leading them past Real Madrid in the Play-In Showdown before falling to eventual champions Fenerbahce.
For Panathinaikos, this move signals serious championship ambitions as they add a proven difference-maker to their core.
