The Washington Wizards traded 2024 first-round pick Walter Clayton Jr. to the Utah Jazz in exchange for No. 21 pick Will Riley and multiple second-round picks, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

Utah sent the 21st overall pick, plus second-round selections in 2025, 2031, and 2032, to Washington in the deal. The Wizards had initially selected Clayton Jr. at No. 18 in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Clayton Jr., a 6-foot-4 guard from Florida, has averaged 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists over 139 career college games. He showed steady scoring improvements and solid shooting efficiency, hitting nearly 39% from three-point range in his senior season.

Riley, the 21st pick, is a 6-foot-7 forward from Illinois who averaged 12.6 points and 4.1 rebounds during his freshman year. Though his three-point percentage is lower at 32.6%, he offers size and versatility at the wing position.

The Wizards, currently holding one of the NBA’s poorest records at 18-64, appear to be shifting their draft strategy by acquiring additional assets in the trade. The Jazz, meanwhile, add a guard with proven scoring ability to their roster.
