The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement to acquire forward/center Kristaps Porzingis from the Boston Celtics in a multi-team trade that also includes the Brooklyn Nets, according to Shams Charania.

As part of the deal, Atlanta will also receive a second-round draft pick, bolstering both their frontcourt and draft assets.

In return, the Brooklyn Nets are acquiring Terance Mann and the No. 22 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, both of which are being sent over from Atlanta.

This move strengthens Brooklyn’s already deep draft position following the trade; the Nets now control five first-round selections in Wednesday’s draft: Nos. 8, 19, 22, 26, and 27.

The Boston Celtics, meanwhile, will receive forward Georges Niang and a second-round pick, continuing a clear effort to reshape their roster and reduce financial commitments.

In just two days, the Celtics have now shed nearly $30 million in salary, allowing them to escape the punitive second apron of the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement.

Kristaps Porzingis, 29, will head to Atlanta on a $30.7 million expiring contract, adding size, shooting, and rim protection to a Hawks team that’s been searching for a versatile big man.

In the 2024–25 season, Porzingis posted 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game over 28.8 minutes.

However, his campaign was marred by a mysterious viral illness that caused him to miss extended time and impacted his conditioning even after returning to the court.

This trade positions Atlanta to be more competitive while also managing cap space flexibility for the offseason.

Boston, on the other hand, appears focused on retooling around its core while gaining more financial flexibility.

For Brooklyn, the trade further stockpiles valuable draft capital that could be used to build through youth or flipped in a larger deal.
