According to Jake Fischer of The People’s Insider, the Portland Trail Blazers intend to retain veteran guard Jrue Holiday as part of their strategy to remain competitive in the Western Conference during the upcoming NBA season.

The Blazers acquired Holiday in a deal finalized Monday night, which saw them send Anfernee Simons and a pair of second-round draft picks to his previous team.

Fischer also noted that several other teams expressed interest in Holiday before the trade, including the Sacramento Kings and the Dallas Mavericks.

Last season, while playing for the Boston Celtics, Holiday contributed 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, providing steady defense and leadership on the floor.
