Following their midseason acquisition of six-time All-Star forward Jimmy Butler during the 2024/25 campaign, the Golden State Warriors are expected to make their offseason roster moves with a clear goal in mind: bolstering their lineup for a stronger playoff push next spring.

In a recent offseason outlook published on The Third Apron, NBA analyst Yossi Gozlan highlighted the Warriors’ advantageous position.

The franchise holds a solid collection of tradable contracts and future draft assets, which could allow them to pursue meaningful upgrades in key areas of the roster.

A pivotal piece of the offseason puzzle, according to Gozlan, is the future of restricted free agent forward Jonathan Kuminga.

As a young and talented player showing considerable upside, Kuminga’s next contract could significantly influence Golden State’s ability to reshape its team.

Gozlan suggests that a sign-and-trade deal might serve the best interests of both parties, allowing the Warriors to recoup assets and granting Kuminga the expanded role he appears to be seeking elsewhere.

In addition to Kuminga, Golden State has several veteran free agents who could also be involved in sign-and-trade scenarios, presenting further opportunities to extract value from outgoing personnel.

As it stands, the Warriors have only nine players currently under contract for the upcoming season and remain approximately $17.4 million below the projected luxury tax threshold.

This financial flexibility, combined with their trade assets, positions them to be active players in what could be a pivotal offseason for the franchise’s short-term ambitions.
