Despite persistent offseason rumors, Giannis Antetokounmpo appears committed to staying in Milwaukee, according to ESPN. However, he will likely withhold full confidence until the team proves its dedication to reinforcing the roster this summer.
Antetokounmpo is fully aware of the club’s limitations, particularly the absence of future draft picks and an aging supporting cast. But he seems to be taking a wait-and-see stance, waiting to evaluate the Bucks’ offseason activity before making any significant decisions about his long-term future.
The situation is further complicated by Damian Lillard’s Achilles injury, which casts uncertainty over his readiness next season. Milwaukee must juggle Lillard’s large contract with the need to maintain depth around Giannis.
That’s where the trade of Middleton for Kuzma plays in, granting the Bucks the coveted midlevel and bi-annual exceptions.
These assets give them the flexibility to pursue meaningful additions, such as locking in Gary Trent Jr. or adding a veteran playmaker, ideally strengthening the bench and alleviating pressure on Giannis when Lillard is sidelined.

If the front office acts decisively, securing a backcourt anchor, bringing in role-player upgrades, and using smart asset management, he might see a path to another deep playoff run. If not, he may begin to reassess whether Milwaukee shares his championship urgency.
