As the Dallas Mavericks prepare to select Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, second-year forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper has shared his thoughts on what the potential addition would mean for the team.
Speaking to reporters, Prosper offered strong praise for the 18-year-old prospect, emphasizing his versatility and competitive nature.
“I think he’s going to bring a lot to our team,” Prosper said, via Mike Curtis. “He’s super versatile, has the drive to win, super competitive. Can defend. Offensively, he’s a Swiss Army knife. He’s a great addition to our team and someone we can plug wherever we need to help us win.”
The Maine native has a private visit scheduled with Dallas on June 17 and is not expected to meet with any other teams before the June 25 draft.
Reportedly, Dallas has no plans to evaluate additional prospects for the top selection. The franchise views Flagg as a foundational piece for a post-Luka Doncic era.
Flagg has earned top-pick status thanks to his defensive instincts, positional versatility, and unselfish offensive game. The 6-foot-9 forward impressed scouts at the NBA Draft Combine and has drawn comparisons to top two-way forwards in the league.
Prosper, who appeared in 52 games for Dallas this season before undergoing wrist surgery in March, remains focused on his recovery. He confirmed that his rehab is progressing well.
“Great. Rehab is going great,” he said. “The process is where it’s supposed to be and I’ll be back soon.” When asked about a return date, he added, “Not an exact date, but I would say late this month or early next month.”
Before the injury, Prosper averaged 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in limited minutes. He is expected to be part of a forward rotation that could include Flagg and returning veterans in the 2025–26 season.
Dallas finished 10th in the Western Conference with a 39–43 record. Despite their placement, the team won the draft lottery for the first time in franchise history, securing the opportunity to reshape its future.
