Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James didn’t receive major minutes during his rookie season, but his trajectory may soon change.
James played in 27 of the Lakers’ 82 regular season games in 2024-25, averaging 6.7 minutes per outing.
Most of his on-court development came in the G League, where he logged 18 appearances and posted averages of 18.6 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game.
He also shot 33.6% from three-point range and recorded five games with 23 or more points, including a season-best 39-point effort in March.
Now, an anonymous Western Conference executive believes the 20-year-old is headed for a stable role in Los Angeles.
Speaking to Athlon Sports, the executive said the Lakers “plan” to include James in next year’s rotation.
“He was a lot better player in April than he was in October,” the executive said.
Citing his defensive activity and improvement as a perimeter shooter, the executive predicted James could soon earn 10 to 15 minutes per game.
“He can defend the perimeter and he showed he can shoot the 3,” the executive said. “If he can show that wasn’t a fluke… he is going to be a regular for them next year.”
He was taken No. 55 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, a move widely assumed to be influenced by his father LeBron James’ presence on the team.
