The Chicago Bulls front office was reportedly ready to go all-in had they been given a chance to acquire Luka Doncic at the 2025 trade deadline.
According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, a source told the outlet that executive vice president Artūras Karnišovas “would have offered anyone and everyone on the roster” if the Mavericks had made it known Doncic was available in February.
Doncic was ultimately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on February 2 in a blockbuster deal that sent Anthony Davis and Max Christie to Dallas, along with a 2029 first-round pick.
The Bulls were not informed of Doncic’s availability before the trade, per Cowley’s report, and never got a seat at the table.
Chicago, meanwhile, finished the 2024–25 regular season ninth in the East with a 39–43 record before being eliminated in the play-in tournament by the Miami Heat.
Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic were all healthy and active at the time of the trade, but the front office was reportedly open to moving any of them to land the 26-year-old All-NBA guard.
