Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 for using profane language during his postgame media availability following Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, the NBA announced Wednesday.
The league stated that the fine was issued for Edwards’ inappropriate language after Minnesota’s 114-88 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder on May 20 at Paycom Center.
Byron Spruell, NBA President of League Operations, confirmed the penalty in an official statement released from New York.
Edwards’ comments came shortly after the Timberwolves’ second-half collapse in which Oklahoma City outscored them 70-40 after halftime.
The 23-year-old was frustrated after scoring 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting in the loss, well below his 2025 postseason average of 26.5 points.
Minnesota led by four at the break behind Julius Randle’s 20-point first half, but the Thunder opened the third quarter with a 10-0 run and never looked back.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 31 points, including 20 in the second half, while Jalen Williams added 19 points and eight boards.
The Timberwolves shot just 34.9 percent from the floor and missed 36 of their 51 three-point attempts.
Oklahoma City, the West’s top seed at 68-14, hit 50 percent of its shots and moved the ball effectively, registering 27 assists to Minnesota’s 18.
Donte DiVincenzo and Naz Reid struggled to find rhythm, combining to shoot 4-of-25 from the field.
The Timberwolves now trail 1-0 in the series, with Game 2 set for Thursday night in Oklahoma City.
