The Phoenix Suns have not yet initiated any formal trade negotiations involving Kevin Durant, and the door remains open for him to potentially stay with the franchise heading into the 2025-26 NBA season.

While his long-term future in Phoenix is uncertain, the organization has not definitively decided to move on from the star forward.

In a recent organizational move, the Suns promoted Brian Gregory to the role of general manager.

His immediate focus is centered on selecting a new head coach to guide the team, a decision that could ultimately influence the direction of the roster and Durant’s future with the team.

Durant’s potential trade situation is somewhat in limbo, as it may be contingent on the outcome of another major storyline in the league status of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

If Antetokounmpo becomes available via trade or decides to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks, it could directly impact the landscape for a possible Durant deal.

Several teams reportedly interested in pursuing Antetokounmpo might also view Durant as a valuable alternative.

Additionally, any potential multi-team trade involving Antetokounmpo could attract third-party teams that might be more inclined to get involved in a larger blockbuster deal, which could, in turn, shape Durant’s market.

Earlier this year, the Suns quietly gauged interest in Durant before the trade deadline. Among the most serious talks were with the Golden State Warriors, Durant’s former team.

However, a trade was ultimately not pursued further after Durant communicated his reluctance to return to the Bay Area.

Other teams that have been linked to Durant in trade speculation include the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets, each representing varying levels of interest and potential fit.
