The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to focus heavily this offseason on building a more balanced and physically imposing roster, aside from their top priorities of keeping LeBron James and working toward a long-term extension with Luka Doncic.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the team’s front office will be targeting players who bring added size, versatility, and athleticism to complement their two stars better.

One avenue for roster improvement could come through the trade market.

If forward Dorian Finney-Smith chooses to exercise his $15.4 million player option for the upcoming season, the Lakers would then possess a group of sizable, expiring contracts that could serve as valuable trade assets.

These would include Finney-Smith himself, Rui Hachimura (owed $18.3 million), Maxi Kleber ($11.0 million), and Gabe Vincent ($11.5 million).

Packaging some of these contracts together could give the Lakers flexibility in pursuing impactful additions to strengthen their depth and physical presence on both ends.
