Detroit, MI – The American Basketball Hall of Fame is proud to announce its 7th class of inductees, celebrating a prestigious lineup of athletes, coaches, and contributors who have made significant and lasting contributions to the sport of basketball. This year’s enshrinement ceremony will take place on August 17, 2025, at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, Michigan.
Chairman LaMont “ShowBoat” Robinson expressed his pride in welcoming another legendary class:
“We are thrilled to honor these incredible individuals whose talent, dedication, and impact have helped shape the game we love. Last year’s class included NBA legend Larry Bird, and this year’s class is just as powerful and inspiring.”
In addition to this year’s inductees, the Hall will also recognize the 2025 College Basketball Players of the Year:
- Cooper Flagg, Duke University (Men’s)
- JuJu Watkins, University of Southern California (Women’s)
2025 American Basketball Hall of Fame Inductees:
- Vernon Maxwell – Former NBA star and two-time champion with the Houston Rockets, renowned for his scoring and intensity.
- Ruthie Bolton – WNBA legend and Olympic gold medalist, recognized for her leadership and excellence with the Sacramento Monarchs.
- “Sweet Lou” Dunbar – Iconic Harlem Globetrotter known for his showmanship and global impact on the game.
Also inducted are:
- Alvin Robertson, Koreleone Young, Gerald Wilkins, Derrick Gervin, William Bedford, Phil Hubbard, and Lindsey Hunter – all celebrated for their NBA careers.
- Debbie Miller-Palmore, Brian Burdine, Benny White, Marvin Owens, Kenny Lofton – honored for their collegiate excellence.
- Julius McCoy, Michael Rizik – recognized for contributions to the Eastern Basketball League.
- Vince Johnson – standout with the Washington Generals.
- Sonny Vaccaro, Tom Wilson – industry contributors with lasting influence.
- Frank Sincek – longtime high school coach and mentor.
- Bucky Lew – a trailblazer and the first Black professional basketball player.
- The Harlem Clowns –the second-oldest comedy basketball team, acknowledged for their cultural significance and entertainment legacy. 1934-2015
