The Charlotte Hornets are one of the teams most heavily invested in the outcome of tonight’s NBA draft lottery, according to Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer.
With a 14% chance of securing the coveted No. 1 overall pick, the Hornets are in the mix for a potential franchise-altering selection, possibly Cooper Flagg – a highly touted prospect expected to go at the top of the draft.
Still, even if they don’t land the first pick, there are multiple high-upside players available who could significantly strengthen the team’s youthful foundation.
Hornets forward Miles Bridges emphasized the importance of this year’s draft for the franchise’s direction, expressing enthusiasm about the talent pool.
“This is a great draft class,” Bridges said. “They have a talented draft class. It would be really big if we could get No. 1 or even No. 2. But it will be big for us.”
His words show the team’s eagerness to build on its young foundation by adding a valuable piece, stressing how pivotal the lottery is to Charlotte’s future plans.
