Despite suffering a decisive first-round sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo remains proud of how the team persevered through a tumultuous 2024–25 campaign, reports Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.
Reflecting on the season’s hardships, Adebayo praised the Heat’s refusal to give up, even as challenges mounted.
“This organization and this team could have let go of the rope a long time ago, going through what we went through this season,” Adebayo said. “A lot of people would have just chalked it up and gone like, ‘You know what, we’re just going to start over.’ That’s one thing I love about this organization – we’re always trying to win no matter what, no matter what situation we’re in… We went through two play-in games on the road trying to just get to the dance. So I would say it’s been an up and down road and we’ve figured out how hard it is to win.”
Adebayo’s comments come after a season marked by instability, beginning with All-Star Jimmy Butler’s trade request, which disrupted early momentum and ultimately led to his midseason move to the Golden State Warriors.
Without Butler, the Heat struggled to find consistent form, enduring a 10-game skid followed by a six-game win streak – a microcosm of their erratic year.
Still, Miami fought their way into the playoffs through back-to-back road wins in the play-in tournament, a testament to the team’s grit and the franchise’s win-at-all-costs mindset.
Although their postseason run was short-lived, Adebayo emphasized the value of enduring the highs and lows, reinforcing the Heat’s identity as a resilient, never-say-die organization.
