Steph Curry was straightforward following the Golden State Warriors’ 115-107 loss to the Houston Rockets in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series. The defeat forced a Game 7, and the Warriors’ star remained confident about his team’s chances.

“We’ve got another opportunity to go do it,” Curry said after the game. “We need to dig deep to win these types of games. I’m very confident we can get it done.”

Curry’s 29-point performance was overshadowed by a cold stretch from his team. The Warriors missed 13 consecutive shots at a critical juncture, leaving them unable to capitalize on momentum shifts. Despite Golden State trailing by just two points heading into the fourth quarter, Houston managed to extend their lead, thanks in part to crucial plays from Fred VanVleet and Jabari Smith Jr.

For Curry, the key to success in Game 7 is clear: focus on the fundamentals. “It’s not just about the points on the board; it’s a feeling, a vibe, momentum,” Curry explained. “We need to make the necessary adjustments and understand how they’re defending us.”

The Rockets played zone defense throughout much of the second half, forcing the Warriors into contested shots. Curry was asked if he felt hesitation from his teammates in taking open shots, and he stressed the importance of taking what the defense gives them. “Everybody’s in this league for a reason. If you have a shot, take it,” Curry said. “Coaching doesn’t need to say anything. Be aggressive and look for your shot.”

Houston’s defense, coupled with several missed opportunities for the Warriors, made for a difficult night. “There were momentum plays that you want to have back,” Curry noted. “50/50 balls, offensive rebounds — those things make a difference.”

Looking ahead, Curry is undeterred by the pressure of a Game 7. He pointed to the importance of experience in high-stakes situations, especially with veterans like Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler on the roster. “We’ve had Game 7s together before,” Curry said. “The confidence that we can get it done, no matter how it looks, is huge.”

When asked about the impact of fatigue, Curry admitted the travel and intensity of the series has taken its toll, but he emphasized that it’s all part of the playoff grind. “It’s always hard to win, and sustaining it is even harder,” he said.

As the Warriors head into a deciding Game 7 on Sunday in Houston, Curry remains optimistic. “We still have life left,” Curry affirmed. “We’ve got another shot.”
