FC Bayern Munich announced that Marko Pesic will vacate his role as general manager of the club’s basketball division at the start of 2026.

The 48-year-old has decided to step down voluntarily after nearly 15 years in a leadership role with the six-time German champions.

Pesic, who took over the GM position in January 2013 following a stint as Bayern’s sporting director, will remain with the organization in an advisory capacity beyond his departure.

To ensure a smooth transition, Bayern will restructure its management team ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Beginning July 1, 2025, current sporting director Dragan Tarlac and chief strategy officer Adrian Sarmiento will be added to the club’s executive management.

Both will assume full operational control of FCBB starting January 2026.

Club president Herbert Hainer praised Pesic for guiding Bayern to the top tier of European basketball and acknowledged his impact in shaping the club’s long-term success.

Under Pesic, Bayern captured four domestic championships and four German Cup titles, while also becoming the only German shareholder of the EuroLeague.

His tenure included several key milestones, such as the team’s first Bundesliga title in 2014, the opening of SAP Garden in 2024, and the installation of a permanent video glass court at BMW Park.

Pesic stated that his decision came after extended internal discussions and careful consideration of the program’s future trajectory.

He emphasized that Bayern is now structurally and organizationally prepared to grow without him, citing the club’s infrastructure, facilities, and leadership depth.

Tarlac, who joined Bayern in August 2024 after leading Serbia to bronze at the Paris Olympics as team director, brings a decorated playing and executive background.

His playing career included EuroLeague, NBA, and national team success, followed by executive roles with FIBA and the Serbian basketball federation.

Sarmiento, a Munich native with long-standing ties to the club, rose through the ranks after joining in 2008 and helped lead major commercial and strategic projects, including the SAP Garden development.

He currently represents FCBB on the EuroLeague board.

Bayern finished ninth in the 2024-25 EuroLeague regular season with a 19–15 record, missing the playoffs by a narrow margin.

According to David Hein, the executive is linked with BC Dubai.
