Veteran guard Russell Westbrook’s future with the Denver Nuggets is now described as “uncertain,” according to The Athletic.

In a surprising move during Wednesday night’s 124-116 victory over the Sacramento Kings, coach Adelman decided to bench Westbrook in the final moments of the fourth quarter, opting instead to close the game with Pickett on the floor.

While former MVP holds a player option worth $3.4 million for next season, sources within the league indicate that despite this, his status with the Nuggets remains unclear.

This development has raised further questions about whether the athletic playmaker will return to the team or if the organization may seek other directions shortly.

Westbrook has played 17 seasons for 6 teams, including the Thunder and the Clippers. He has averaged 21.2 points, 8.0 assists, and 7.0 rebounds in 1,234 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 9 All-Star games and has won 1 MVP award.
