The Charlotte Hornets ended their five-game losing streak with a 110-106 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday night, led by Miles Bridges’ near triple-double performance.
Bridges scored 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out eight assists, lifting the Hornets (19-56) to win at home. Mark Williams provided a strong inside presence with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Charlotte’s ball movement played a crucial role in securing the victory.
The Hornets built a 14-point lead in the first half, fueled by their hot shooting from deep, making 11 of 22 three-point attempts. However, the Jazz (16-60) fought back, tying the game late in the third quarter behind a three-pointer from rookie guard Keyonte George.
Despite multiple chances to take the lead, Utah failed to capitalize in key moments. The Jazz had an opportunity to tie the game in the final 30 seconds, but Kyle Filipowski missed a three-pointer, and George couldn’t convert on a putback attempt. Josh Green then iced the game for Charlotte by sinking two free throws with 18.3 seconds remaining.
Brice Sensabaugh led the Jazz with 19 points, hitting five three-pointers, while George finished with 20 points and four assists. Filipowski, playing back in North Carolina where he starred for Duke, had a tough start, missing his first eight shots but recovered to record a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Charlotte’s offense thrived with 33 assists on 43 made baskets. Bridges, who had struggled with his three-point shot in recent games, broke out of his slump by making 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
The loss extends Utah’s losing streak to six games, keeping them at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. Injuries have plagued the Jazz, with key players like Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, and Jordan Clarkson unavailable.
Charlotte, which also played without several starters, took advantage of Utah’s struggles to secure a rare win in a tough season.
