Anthony Davis is closing in on his return to the Dallas Mavericks’ lineup, with two key games emerging as potential targets.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the eight-time All-Star could suit up as early as Tuesday against the New York Knicks or Thursday versus the Orlando Magic.

Davis has been sidelined since February 8 due to a left adductor strain, which he suffered during his Mavericks debut against the Houston Rockets. In his absence, Dallas has struggled to maintain playoff positioning, currently sitting 11th in the Western Conference at 34-37.

Stein initially reported that the 31-year-old big man would return at some point during the Mavericks’ four-game road trip. Dallas later upgraded Davis to “doubtful” for Monday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, signaling that his return is imminent.

The Mavericks acquired Davis in a blockbuster trade on February 2, sending Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a move that reshaped both franchises. In his lone game for Dallas so far, Davis recorded 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks, showcasing his ability to lead the team.

Dallas has been dealing with multiple injuries beyond Davis, including Kyrie Irving, whose season ended due to an ACL tear. The Mavericks will need Davis at full strength to make a push for a postseason spot in the final stretch of the regular season.
