Duke freshman phenom Cooper Flagg provided an encouraging update on his health ahead of the Blue Devils’ opening-round matchup in the NCAA Tournament against Mount St. Mary’s on Friday, stating that his right ankle was feeling “pain-free.”

“We’ve been working through the steps of just getting back to 100 percent, and I feel very good,” the player said on Thursday, expressing confidence in his recovery process.

The star forward initially rolled his ankle last Thursday, but he has made steady progress in the days since. On Wednesday, Flagg participated in a full practice session without limitations, signaling his readiness for tournament play.

Further reassuring Duke fans, Flagg emphasized that he had “100 percent full mobility” in his ankle and was no longer wearing any protective footwear, an indication that he is prepared to take the court without restrictions.
