The Toronto Raptors escaped with a 104-102 victory over the Orlando Magic on Sunday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Immanuel Quickley led the Raptors with 24 points, including 17 in the second half, fueling a crucial run late in the third quarter. RJ Barrett added 22 points, while Jakob Poeltl contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Orlando had a final chance to tie or win the game, but Franz Wagner missed a driving layup in the closing second. The Raptors held on despite failing to score in the last 2:52 and committing a costly backcourt turnover with 4.7 seconds left.
Wagner led the Magic with 25 points, and Paolo Banchero added 23, including a three-point play that trimmed the deficit to 104-100. Wendell Carter Jr. chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds.
Quickley sparked a game-changing 12-1 run at the end of the third quarter, knocking down a three-pointer, converting two three-point plays, and assisting on a Jonathan Mogbo layup. That burst gave Toronto an 81-72 lead heading into the fourth.
Jamal Shead provided a boost off the bench with 12 points, helping the Raptors outscore Orlando’s reserves 30-21. Poeltl’s interior presence was also key, as he helped Toronto win the rebounding battle 40-35.
The game took a physical turn when Raptors rookie Gradey Dick exited after being struck in the face by Cole Anthony’s head in a fall late in the first half.
Orlando’s struggles continued, with the team dropping its fourth game in five outings. The Magic are now 7-18 in the 25 games Jalen Suggs has missed this season, a stretch that will continue after the team announced he will undergo knee surgery.
The Raptors improved to 19-42 and remain 13th in the Eastern Conference, while the Magic fell to 29-33, holding the eighth seed.
