Luka Doncic celebrated his 26th birthday in style, scoring 31 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a hard-fought 106-102 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. LeBron James added 28 points and 13 rebounds, helping the Lakers secure their fifth straight win despite missing two starters.

Doncic was clutch in the fourth quarter, hitting back-to-back three-pointers to stretch the Lakers’ lead to 10 points. His playmaking and poise down the stretch proved critical as the Lakers held off a late Clippers rally.

Ivica Zubac dominated inside for the Clippers, finishing with a season-high 27 points and 16 rebounds. Kawhi Leonard added 21 points, but James Harden struggled, shooting just 5-of-22 from the field, including 1-of-10 from three.

The Lakers’ defense was a key factor, forcing 18 turnovers and holding the Clippers to 24.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Despite being undersized, Los Angeles outrebounded the Clippers 39-35 and made timely stops when it mattered most.

The Clippers, who have lost four of their last five games, couldn’t overcome their offensive struggles. Harden’s off night and a lack of bench production (14 combined points) doomed their chances in a tightly contested game.

For the Lakers, the win extends their impressive run to 11 victories in their last 13 games. Austin Reaves left early with calf soreness, and Rui Hachimura sat out with a knee strain, but the team’s depth and resilience shone through.

Doncic’s performance moved him to sixth in NBA history for points scored before turning 26, trailing only legends like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. His chemistry with James continues to fuel the Lakers’ playoff push.
