Stephen Curry delivered another historic performance, dropping a season-high 56 points with 12 three-pointers to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Orlando Magic, 121-115, on Thursday night.
Golden State (32-27) trailed by 14 points at halftime before Curry ignited a third-quarter surge, outscoring Orlando (29-32) by himself in the period. He finished 16-of-25 from the field and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line as the Warriors extended their winning streak to five games.
Curry’s explosive third quarter saw him rack up 22 points, helping the Warriors flip a 66-52 halftime deficit into a 92-87 lead heading into the fourth. His deep three at the halftime buzzer gave Golden State a boost, and he opened the second half with another long-range shot to set the tone for the comeback.
This marked Curry’s NBA-record 26th career game with at least 10 three-pointers. The 11-time All-Star now sits just one game shy of tying his career high of 62 points, set in 2021 against Portland.
Paolo Banchero countered with a dominant effort for the Magic, scoring 41 points on 16-of-27 shooting while adding five assists. Franz Wagner contributed 27 points, but Orlando’s 18 turnovers—many unforced—proved costly in a game they led for much of the first half.
Quinten Post provided a crucial spark off the Warriors’ bench, scoring 18 points and grabbing five rebounds. He had 10 consecutive points in the second quarter, keeping Golden State within striking distance before Curry took over.
Draymond Green finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Jimmy Butler, acquired in a trade earlier this month, struggled with just five points on 1-of-7 shooting but dished out seven assists.
With Curry resting early in the fourth, Golden State’s defense locked in, holding Orlando scoreless for the first 3:08 of the quarter. The Warriors extended their lead to 12 before Curry returned to close out the game.
The Magic shot 64% in the first half but cooled off after the break, managing just 21 points in the third quarter. Banchero tried to lead a late push, but Curry’s shot-making proved too much to overcome.
The victory solidified Golden State’s hold on the seventh seed in the Western Conference, while Orlando remained in seventh place in the East despite losing for the 14th time in its last 20 games.
