Olympiacos Piraeus has bolstered its backcourt by signing Saben Lee just before the EuroLeague roster deadline. The 25-year-old guard returns to the competition after an earlier stint this season with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.
Lee averaged 12.0 points and 2.5 assists in eight EuroLeague games with Maccabi before briefly returning to Manisa Basket in Turkey. With Manisa, he was the second-leading scorer in the Turkish League at 18.7 points per game while also averaging 6.0 assists.
In the Basketball Champions League, he posted 24.8 points, 5.0 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, including a 43-point performance that tied the competition’s single-game scoring record. His scoring ability and playmaking make him a key addition for Olympiacos as they push for EuroLeague success.
Lee began his professional career in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons, where he appeared in 85 games between 2020 and 2022. He also had brief stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns, playing a total of 134 NBA games with averages of 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.
Beyond the NBA, he spent time in the G League with the Motor City Cruise, Delaware Blue Coats, and Raptors 905. Before turning pro, he played college basketball at Vanderbilt University.
Olympiacos currently leads the EuroLeague standings with a 19-7 record. The Greek powerhouse has won nine of its last ten games and is in strong contention for the top seed entering the playoffs.
Lee’s arrival adds depth to an Olympiacos squad dealing with injuries in its backcourt. His scoring ability and experience at multiple levels of professional basketball will provide immediate support as the team looks to maintain its dominance.
With the EuroLeague playoffs approaching, Olympiacos is positioning itself for a deep postseason run, and Lee’s signing could play a crucial role in that pursuit.
