The Atlanta Hawks ended a three-game slide by defeating the Miami Heat 98-86 on Monday night.
Trae Young recorded 11 points and 14 assists as Atlanta (27-31) reclaimed the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference standings.
Onyeka Okongwu led the Hawks with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Terance Mann and Caris LeVert each contributed 15 points off the bench.
Dyson Daniels, the NBA’s leader in steals, finished with seven, helping Atlanta force 17 Miami turnovers.
The Hawks held the Heat to 32.1% shooting, their worst percentage of the season, marking the fewest points allowed by Atlanta since March 2021.
Andrew Wiggins paced Miami (26-30) with 23 points, while Bam Adebayo added 14.
Tyler Herro, who had scored 40 points in two of his previous three games, struggled with just 11 points on 4-for-19 shooting.
Miami missed 13 of its first 14 three-point attempts and finished 7-for-40 from deep, shooting just 17.5%.
The Heat have now lost six of their last seven games and are 2-6 since trading Jimmy Butler to Golden State on February 5.
With 3:25 left, Atlanta led by six when a successful challenge on a Young foul prevented two Miami free throws.
Mann capitalized on the overturned call by hitting a three-pointer, extending the Hawks’ lead to 93-84.
One night after allowing the Pistons to shoot 59.1%, Atlanta responded with a dominant defensive effort against Miami.
The Hawks outrebounded the Heat 50-45 and outscored them in the paint 42-30.
Miami’s bench, led by Kyle Anderson’s 14 points, was unable to close the gap in the fourth quarter.
