Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd avoided directly addressing whether Anthony Davis’ “good progress” indicates that he will be able to avoid surgery, according to a tweet from Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News.

While Kidd refrained from providing a definitive answer, it appears that Davis is making strides in the right direction with his recovery.

“I’m not a doctor,” Kidd stated, underscoring his limited expertise on medical matters while hinting at optimism regarding Davis’ situation.

“(Davis’ reevaluation is) in two weeks. I think you’ll get a better understanding of what has to take place but right now he’s doing great. He’s in the weight room.

“He was shooting on the court. A lot of positive things for him. I don’t know if that means surgery, but I think we’re all excited to see him back to work.”

Davis has played 13 seasons for the Lakers, Pelicans, and Mavericks. He has averaged 24.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 blocks in 779 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 9 All-Star games and has won 1 NBA championship.
