Stephen Curry led Team Shaq to a dominant 41-25 victory over Team Chuck in the NBA All-Star Final on Sunday. The Golden State Warriors star put on a show at Chase Center, scoring 12 points and hitting four three-pointers to earn the Kobe Bryant Award as the All-Star Game MVP.
Curry wasted no time making an impact, draining the first points of the final with a three-pointer. He later connected from half-court and celebrated with rapper Mistah Fab on the sideline as the crowd erupted.
Fans inside Chase Center chanted “MVP! MVP!” as Curry lifted the trophy in front of his home crowd. The moment capped off a special weekend for the 36-year-old, who recently won Olympic gold and is set to celebrate his 37th birthday next month.
The final was over early, as Team Chuck’s Global Stars struggled offensively. They missed their first 10 field-goal attempts, including six from three-point range, allowing Team Shaq to jump out to an 11-0 lead.
Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, adding three rebounds and two assists. Curry followed with 12 points, while Kyrie Irving contributed seven off the bench.
On the other side, Karl-Anthony Towns led Team Chuck with eight points, and Victor Wembanyama added 11 off the bench. The rest of the team combined for just six made field goals as they shot 35.5% overall and a dismal 12.5% from three.
Shaquille O’Neal’s squad, labeled the OGs, had already defeated Candace Parker’s Rising Stars in the semifinals under the All-Star Game’s new format. The contest removed traditional quarters and the game clock, instead making the race to 40 points the deciding factor.
Curry’s performance was the highlight of a weekend filled with celebrations, practice sessions, and community outreach. Before the game, he even kicked a ball to Anthony Edwards before launching into his shooting routine.
The halftime show, an 18-minute tribute to TNT’s impact on NBA coverage, lasted longer than the final itself. The Global Stars never found their rhythm, with Nikola Jokić and Donovan Mitchell combining for just two points in the loss.
As the All-Star break comes to a close, Curry and the Warriors will shift their focus back to the playoff race. Golden State remains in a battle for postseason positioning, making the final stretch of the season crucial.
