After his debut game in the Charlotte Hornets’ loss to the Orlando Magic, Jusuf Nurkic was asked about the Magic’s current state as a team. Nurkic praised Orlando’s squad while subtly hinting at a possible future roster move.
“They are a really good young team, and they’re doing a great job. Their coaching staff is excellent, but I think they’re missing one piece. I won’t say exactly who, but it’s my little fella from Portland. I’ve got love for my people in Portland… but I believe they’re just one player away from being a really solid team,” Nurkic commented.
Nurkic’s remarks appear to be alluding to his former Portland Trail Blazers teammate, Anfernee Simons.
Simons, who hails from Orlando, has frequently been mentioned in trade rumors involving the Magic. He has one year remaining on his contract with the Blazers, valued at $27.7 million for the upcoming season.
